Crucial Copyright Consultations Underway - Make Your Voice Heard
Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m.
The Government of Canada will be hosting a nationwide consultation on copyright modernization. As a creator or publisher, this presents a critical opportunity for you to have your say on copyright and its implications in our increasingly digital environment - issues that directly affect your livelihood. Access Copyright is strongly encouraging you to get involved. There are a number of ways you can participate, including an online submission centre, a discussion forum, and a town hall meeting via interactive webcast. Hosted by Minister Tony Clement and Minister James Moore.

Writers & Editors Network presents Breathing Life into Biographies with Elizabeth Macleod
Saturday, September 19, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Elizabeth MacLeod is the award-winning author of more than 35 books for children. Many are biographies, including The Kids Book of Great Canadians, The Kids Book of Great Canadian Women and the Snapshot biographies, a series of 10 books about famous people such as Albert Einstein, Lucy Maud Montgomery, the Wright Brothers and more. For many years, Liz has also been an editor of books and magazines for adults and children. Advance registration required.

Words Alive Literary Festival 2009

Words Alive celebrates a rich literary heritage and provides a showcase for local and Canada-wide authors. An Opportunity to Be a Bigger Part of Words Alive Literary Festival 2009

To keep Words Alive strong and increase attendance, organizers are seekeing Volunteers, including people who are interested in introducing authors and poets and storytellers. They are also looking for a new committee members to be part of one of the fastest-growing literary festivals in Ontario.

Kingston WritersFest Hosts Four Days of Literary Readings, Book Panels, Onstage Interviews and Master Classes for Writers
September 23 to 26
Margaret Atwood, Joseph Boyden, Michael Crummey, Anne Michaels, Mark Sinnett and Erika Ritter will be in town along with some 20 other writers for the fourth annual Kingston WritersFest. There will also be master classes for both seasoned and emerging writers on writing humour and memoirs, writing for children, and self-publishing.

How to Write & Sell a Romance Novel; An Editor & An Author Tell All
Saturday, September 26, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Learn the "secret formulas" and how to brainstorm a storyline. Find out how much money romance authors earn and where the best opportunities to get published are now. Workshop leader Brian Henry has been a book editor and creative writing instructor for more than 25 years. Guest speaker Lynda Simmons will share her story of how she became a published author and answer questions.

Quattro Books Presents The 2010 KEN KLONSKY Novella Contest
